Neighbourhood Plan

  • The background to the task
In this article, Geoff Chopping outlines the opportunities provided by a neighbourhood plan and also the major commitment required to develop it.

  • Major developments proposed for Furzehill
The scale of what could be in store if we do not make our wishes known in a coordinated way is demonstrated by this map showing three proposed major housing developments. The smallest, at Woodleaze, is largely on a brownfield site within the village envelope and is almost certain to go ahead, but the others would extend the village envelope and encroach on the green belt.
    Update 08/05/21:
John Cardwell's latest information indicates that, with the sale and planning
applications for the Woodleaze site still outstanding, the interval from now before work starts on the development is most unlikely to be less than one year and may well be nearer two years.

  • Questionnaire Responses
The document Responses to Neighbourhood Plan Questionnaire sets out the replies received following our AGM on 8 February 2020 until 31 May 2020.
We are still seeking responses to our 15 point online questionnaire to help us decide whether Furzehill wants to develop its own neighbourhood plan or contribute to the larger parish neighbourhood plans of Colehill and/or Holt. So it is certainly not too late to contribute your thoughts. There is also the option for raising additional issues and for submitting photos or documents to support your opinions.
Please complete it with your current ideas or send your thoughts by email to webadmin@furzehillresidents.co.uk. This is a long term project and your ideas may well change. Your responses do not commit you to a particular view.
  • Past submissions to the then EDDC
These documents give an insight into some of the issues that may well still be relevant to a neighbourhood plan:
    >> Submission 2016 to EDDC local plan review by Keith Baker, then FRA Secretary
    >> Question and follow-up of EDDC by Geoff Chopping regarding EDDC's intention of honouring its own commitment to traffic calming in Furzehill.
